Nothing's worse than getting a call on your vacation that your house has been robbed. That's what happened to us on Friday while in San Diego and the day before we were to go to my family's beach house in Mexico. What's worse is we keep finding more and more things that were stolen or rummaged through, which makes it more disturbing by the hour.
We flew back yesterday morning to handle the claims and police report. They've taken everything electronic they cared for, minus a couple of things. All my jewelry is gone - high school class ring, diamond Ironman necklace, another diamond necklace my parents gave me on my 13th birthday, my first diamond ring from Bryon for my birthday two years ago, a pendant my mom had worn with a baby picture of me - and countless other pieces that were hand-picked by Bryon or myself, or were my mom's. My purse I left behind. Our safe in the back of the master closet that had mementos of Bryon's passed-away mother. All our alcohol and wine.
Not much else to say. At least the dogs are unhurt, but they're fired from protecting our house! (Although it doesn't help them much when the bad guys fed them half the bag of dog biscuits we had left out for our house/pet sitter!) No one else was hurt either, which is the best of all of this. We just lack our privacy and feel completely violated. None of those posessions mean anything to them and will most likely throw out half the stuff they got. Bastards. I hope they get their due one day. Even better, I hope the fingerprints come back with a match.

That is terrible! So sorry to hear about you getting robbed. You are right about feeling violated. I read your blog because I want to someday do a triathlon. I think that I have waited too long though.
Awe jacqueeze!!! I'm so sorry this happen to you, how horrible. And this whole time I thought you spent the weekend sippin' 'rita's in my homeland. ...
Oh no!! I'm sure it ruined your vacation. Glad no one was hurt and at least it sounds like they didn't take your bike. My neighborhood has had a lot of burglaries too, unfortunately.
