5 days

Five days.

Five days until my third - yes (only my) THIRD - and final triathlon of the 2008 season. Boy has the time flown by.

Just looked up my first 70.3 race results (to give me hope) - I've come a long way since that May 2006 race. I've got two + more years of endurance training under my belt; I've done an Ironman; I've been through many injuries, many head games, much self-motivation talk -- I should be able to handle this, right?

Here they are...Ironman Florida 70.3, May 2006:

1.2 mile swim - 40:57 (2:03/100m pace)
T1 - 3:46
56 mile bike - 2.46:58 (20.1 mph pace)
T2 - 2:15
13.1 mile run - 2.41:16 (12:19 mph pace)
TOTAL: 6 hours 15 minutes 10 seconds

It was hot (98+ degrees). It was humid (90%+). Supplies on the run ran out. It was soul-breaking.

Hopefully Sunday brings great weather and good racing. (And hopefully the racing gods are watching over me - I did just give up hours of my time this past weekend to volunteer!)

Recovering post-race.

Yep, I did FL 70.3 in 2006 too and was glad I had my Fuel Belt with me. With 3 laps and the usual hot weather, it always seems like they run out of something on the run course. Hopefully that'll not be an issue at Longhorn. Good luck on your race!!
